Social Networking...what a concept! I get to stay up until 4 or 5 am "doing stuff" to extend my ever-reeking cyberstench. I've got a MySpace, I've got a Facebook. I've got a YouTube, There's a Creative Commons Page. ALso, I was voted "Member of the year 2007" by http://drumsmylife.com, a website that is 7200+ members strong at the time of this writing. Yeah, I get it. One thing I like about all of this hoopla is that enables me to connect with people to the point that I can transcend the need for "mainstream press". I am not "Flavor of the Month" material. Rather, I am an incredibly active denizen of not only the stage of the local choke & puke but also a very highly-evolved netizen that is patched in to many areas. I gave up on getting into drum magazines a long time ago. I suppose they don't notice me because I don't have a bone through my head, I don't have a hit record, I don't look like I just fell out of an inkpress. However, I've played on over 100 albums, won a grammy award, am at the forefront of an internet music revolution, and I just turned 40 and still ride a skateboard. Meh... It's not like I don't have a story to tell. I toured with the guy who started Rock-n-Roll...what more do you want? It's comical at this point to me. I guess I expect too much from what a career is supposed to give, seeing that I don't make a boatload of cash doing this. Really, I do it for the shits & grins. |
